MCGRATH, Ruth Alice

-

Age 84, Pugwash, passed away December 15, 2020, at home with her family by her side. Born in Pugwash, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Alice ( Pipes) Allen. She worked at Sunset Adult Residential Centre and The Canadian Salt Company Ltd. For most of her work-life, however, she was a well-known friendly face in the community at the Scotiabank in Pugwash where she was affectionately known as "Ma". She was a member of Rebekah Lodge Silver Spray No. 1 in Pugwash, volunteered at many VON clinics, the ladies auxiliary clothing store and many summers at the Cyrus Eaton Tea Room in Pugwash. Ruth also spent countless hours supporting many church initiatives, including several years as the Treasurer of the United Church Pastoral Charge. She enjoyed crib, painting, and searching for sea glass along the shores of Malagash. Remaining active right up until recent years with yoga along with her weekly bowling league. First and foremost, however, she was a mom, a grandmother, and a greatgrandmother. Loved time with the kids, playing games, doing crafts, eating ice- cream, and making sandcastles at the family cottage. This is what she lived for. Although we all are sad to see her leave us, we have great comfort knowing she is finally able to hold hands once again with Willis. She is survived by her children, Cindy ( Randy) Oickle, Port Howe; Ralph (Denise), West Pugwash; Shelley (Andrew) Isbill, Springfield, N.B.; Trent (Charmaine), Bedford; grandchildren, Ryan (Brooke), Amie (Mitch), Jessica (Travis), Cole ( Kelly), Robbie ( Mary), Shawn (Adrienne), Aiden, Cameron, Jason and Darcie; greatgrandchildren, Madison, Jack, Kaylee, Blake, Owen, Theo, and Cohen; sister, Arlene Angevine, Pugwash; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Willis G. Mcgrath; parents, Alice and Ralph Allen; great-grandchildren, Randi and Joey; brother, Chandler Allen. Due to covid-19, there will be no public visitation or funeral service at this time. A private burial service will be held in Wallace Cemetery. The funeral service will be announced and held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Cumberland County Victorian Order of Nurses; The North Cumberland Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, or the Palliative Care.
