Matt Mays delivers live experience
Dartmouth rocker Matt Mays presents a live performance from the outskirts of the City of Lakes when he hosts the online premiere of From Burnside With Love on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 9 p.m.
Directed by Joel Stewart, the performance was filmed in front of a studio audience on a Burnside Industrial Park soundstage in 2018, with the award-winning songwriter and surfer revisiting highlights of his entire career with a full band in an intimate and semi-unplugged setting.
These revamped versions of Mays’ personal picks feature singer/guitarist Adam Baldwin, bassist Serge Samson, Damien Moynihan on drums, keyboardist Leith Flemingsmith, violin and vocals by Kendel Carson and multi-instrumentalist Asa Brosius on pedal steel, dobro and banjo.
The session was also recorded for an upcoming triple LP titled From Burnside With Love, due out in early 2021. Along with tickets for the online concert premiere, fans can also get them in a bundle that includes a pre-order of a limited edition autographed copy of the triple-vinyl release.
The premiere on Feb. 13 will be followed by a virtual backstage party with the Mays and his band, with a Q&A featuring pre-submitted questions and more details about the making of From Burnside With Love.
News of the concert film and album release comes the same week as the premiere of Mays’ new video Talking to the Sky from his most recent album Dog City.
The clip was directed by July Talk’s Leah Fay and Peter Dreimanis, and stars Mays’
charismatic terrier Rhuby.
