ARCHIBALD (George), Muriel Jean

Age 92, of Denver, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 19, 2020 in Colchester Regional Hospital. Born in Phillips Harbour, on April 20, 1928, daughter of William and Lillian George. Muriel was predecease­d by her husband, Frank (2013); brothers, Charlie, Frank, Eric; sisters, Bertha and Gertie. She is survived by brother, Howard (Eileen), Phillips Harbour and sister-in-law, Georgie, Comox, B.C.; and many nieces and nephews. Muriel moved to Denver in her late teens where she worked in her cousin’s canteen. It was there that she met the love of her life, Frank. They were married on January 8, 1948. They had sons, John (Margie), Truro; Barry (Wendy), Denver; grandchild­ren, Trevor (Caroline), Kentville; Krista Trider ( Jason), Falmouth; Jason, Vancouver, B.C.; great-grandchild­ren, Andrew, Jack, Brandon, Robbie and Emily. Muriel was a member of Glenelg Presbyteri­an Church, the Rose Auxiliary, WMS and local Women’s Institute, Greenfield Oldsters Club and Sherbrooke Legion. She was an avid quilter and knitter. Muriel loved to play cards with her family and also at the Oldsters Club on Tuesdays. She was renowned locally by family and friends for her perfect homemade rolls, biscuits and pumpkin pie. The family extends a special thanks to the doctors and nurses in ICU and 3rd floor Medical D Wing at Colchester Regional Hospital in Truro and her family doctor, Michelle Murphy of Antigonish for the special care they provided. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22nd in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A family funeral service by invitation will be held on Wednesday in Glenelg Presbyteri­an Church with Rev. Derek Elsworth and Rev. Andrew Campbell officiatin­g. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Aspen. Donations in her memory may be made to Glenelg Presbyteri­an Church or Evergreen Cemetery.
