Born in Meteghan Station, he was a son of the late Alfred and Helen (Leblanc) Hicks. Henry was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, and a long-time member of Meteghan Lions Club. He spent countless hours volunteering in the community, through the local food bank and fundraising by selling tickets, and the Villa bingo. Henry was a businessman and a hard worker, a fiddle player and always had a joke or song to make us laugh. He was a great father, grandfather and husband. He is survived by wife, Georgina; children, Gary (Elizabeth), Ruth (Michael) Saulnier, Danny, Elaine (Gilles) Comeau; grandchildren, Johnny, Daniel, Adrien, Josée, Joel, Bruce, Yvette; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Aaron, Abigail. Cremation has taken place under the care of Meteghan Funeral Home. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic provincial restrictions, a private funeral will be held at a later date in Église Sacré-coeur, Saulnierville, officiated by Rev. Mathieu Agbaya, with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Saulnierville. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia. The family would like to thank La Villa Acadienne for the service they gave Henry these last few years. Henry was a very wise man who thought of so much. He leaves us with a piece of advice: "Be happy with what you have. If you aren’t, you’ll never be happy. Wishful thinking will not make you happy."
