SCHMID (Sewell), Priscilla "Gran"

-

Of Dartmouth. It is with great sadness that the family of Priscilla Alison Earle Schmid, known to most as "Gran", anounces she passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020 at the age of 86. She spent her final days surrounded and loved by her family. Priscilla was born June 15, 1934 in Montreal, Que., a daughter of the late Stephen and Alison Sewell, and the high school sweetheart of the late Peter Schmid. Beloved mother of Wendy Kerr ( Rob), Michael Schmid, and Susanmills. Priscilla spent many cherished years with her family on Lac Brule, Que., where she grew up. In 1972, Peter and her family settled in Dartmouth. For 40 years, prior to her retirement, she was an early childhood educator, working alongside her daughter Wendy at A Child’s Place Daycare. Priscilla touched the hearts of many children who walked through their doors, and to this day still call her Gran. She had many passions in life; gardening, knitting, reading, crossword puzzles and spending summers at the family cottage in Labelle with her grandchildren Brad, Pat ( Paula), Sarah ( Mike), Jenny (Gavin), Nick (Nicole), Maggie (Rickey), Becky ( Jeremy), Peter (Mary). Her greatest joy later in life was her great-grandchildren in Ontario, Willow, Mya, and Gunnar. She is also survived by her sister, Gerry Whitley; brother, Stephen Sewell; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her great-grandson, Rory; her sister, Margaret; and brother, David. Cremation has taken place. There will be a small service planned at a later date. Gran’s family would like to thank the nurses on 3 West at Dartmouth General Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
