CANFIELD (Hanson), Eileen Barbara

-

Of Pugwash. It is with sad hearts that the family of Eileen announces the passing of our precious mother and grandmother at the age of 91. She died peacefully in her home in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, with her daughters by her side. Eileen was a daughter of the late Arthur and Gladys (Redmond) Hanson (of Wentworth). She lived most of her years in Wallace and worked at the Wallace Post Office. She later moved to Hills of Annan in Tatamagouche and then came to reside at ECL in Pugwash where she truly enjoyed her remaining years; playing cards, Scrabble, bingo, singing in the ECL Choir and helping fellow residents in any way she could. Eileen will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Marilyn, Rhonda (Bill) Lucas; grandchildren, Amy and Clayton; and her sisters-in-law, Kathleen Frankland and Carol Hanson; several nieces and a nephew; as well as special friends, Charlotte Lou and Doug, Mary Rushton and Vicki Lynn Chapman. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Henry; brother, Maxwell; sister and brother-in-law, June and John Daley; a brother in infancy; grandson, Adam; parents-in-law, William and Inez; sister-in-law, Elizabeth; and brother-in-law, Alvin. The family can never adequately express the gratitude felt for the wonderful care and the comfortable home provided by East Cumberland Lodge to our mother and for the friendship and support of staff. In following Eileen’s wishes there will be no public funeral service and a family gathering will be held in the spring. Those wishing to make a donation may kindly do so to East Cumberland Lodge or to a charity that touches your heart. Eileen was forever helping others throughout her life and that is one of the most beautiful legacies she could leave behind for her family, friends and the world. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting the funeral home website at: www.mmcfunerals.com
