-

November 11, 1930 - December 23, 2020. With great sadness we announce the passing of Dad "Art - Boots", loving husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and great great-grandfather to many. Art was born in Queensland; he later moved to Eastern Passage at the age of 16. Art was employed at CFB Shearwater and retired after 42 years as a painter/glazer. He passed away in Oakwood Terrace nursing home with his sister Marguerite by his side. He was predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis (Chase); daughters, Elaine and Bonnie; his second wife, Elizabeth (Betty Ewing); and stepson, Brian. He is survived by his daughters, Janet (Colin) Negus, Karen ( Dolly) Mackenzie; son, Arthur (Shelly) Boutilier; and son-in-law, Frank Osborne; stepchildren, Beverly Mcgregor, Bonnie Barager, Wendy Barager, Kevin ( Judy) Barager, Barry (Nancy) Barager; and his sister, Marguerite. In early years Art enjoyed bowling in many leagues. He also enjoyed working with wood and made many things for family and friends. He was well-known for his love of music and dance; especially the old tunes of Cape Breton and was always the first one on the dance floor. He and Betty enjoyed countless years camping at Riverland Campground with best friends Al and Eileen Burgess and cherished the many friends they made over the years. He continued to hunt and fish (his great passions) into his 80’s with friends, sons-in-law and grandsons. Art was an easygoing man with many friends. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. May he now Rest in Peace. We would like to thank the staff at Oakwood Terrace (units C and D) for their loving care during his time there. Cremation has taken place and a burial and celebration of life will take place at a later date with family. Memorial donations in Arthur’s name can be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
