Of Dartmouth, born February 12, 1966, passed away December 23, 2020, in Dartmouth General Hospital with family present. Darren was the second youngest of nine children. Son of the late Calvin and Virginia Day. Darren was predecease­d by his oldest brother, Ron; youngest sister, Shelley; and his partner, Joanna Legare. He is survived by his son, Cory Day-legare, Dartmouth; siblings, Lena Lynch (Richard), Alberta; Martin "Buddy" Day (Sheila), Dartmouth; Deborah Day, Dartmouth; Sandra Murphy ( Douglas), Kentville; Lorelea Chandler (Charlie Mackeen), Kentville; Richard Day (Veronica), Alberta. Darren is also survived by lots of nieces and nephews, and was very close to a few. He was a family man and his generosity and caring touched many people. He was a light for many friends in his complex and enjoyed spending time with them. He would visit his sick friends and do whatever he could for them. He also fostered six cats who were his fur babies. He enjoyed playing with them with Cory. He loved spending time with Cory; Cory has always been the apple of Darren’s eye. He just wanted everyone to be healthy and happy. His light will shine forever in every heart that knew him. He lost a long battle with cancer. His spirit and love for life showed in everything he did. As sick as he was, he helped as many as he could. He was going to beat the cancer and go back to work! Bless his huge heart! In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Canadian Cancer Society please. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peters Cemetery (corner Cow Bay and Caldwell Road), Eastern Passage. COVID-19 requiremen­ts will be followed, please wear a mask.
