SEARS, Norma Phyllis
On December 26, 2020, Norma Phyllis Sears, loving wife and mother, died at age 73. She was a daughter of the late George and Nora (O’brien) Michor. Born in Halifax, Norma was a teacher for nearly 20 years before choosing to stay home with her children. She was a wonderful cook who loved to bring family and friends together in her warm and inviting home. Norma enjoyed travelling and particularly cherished childhood road trips to Hamilton to visit extended family. She took pride in organizing many seamless vacations herself, creating special memories for her loved ones. She also enjoyed skating at the Lebrun Centre and valued the lasting friendships created with other skaters. Norma was a problem-solver, planner, and organizer with a competitive spirit - best to be on her team while playing a board game! Norma will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Lloyd; son, Jeffrey Smith (Shanan Pictou) and daughters, Jennifer (Peter) Fleming and Allison (Rob) Bohan; sisters, Leslie (Richard) Galpin and Lorraine (Rae) Macdonald; beloved grandchildren, Evan, Anna, Josie, and Connor; and several nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Gary Smith. Norma appreciated the love and support received from friends and family during her illness, in particular from special friend, Claire. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
