1935 - 2020. Sister Jeannine Babin, in religion Sister Marie Léa-deJésus, Fille de Jésus, passed away following a long illness on Friday December 25, 2020 in Monarch Hall in Riverview. She was 85 years old and was in her 64th year of religious life. Sister Jeannine was a daughter of the late François Babin and the late Léa Roy (from Dalhousie, N.B.). Besides her religious family, she will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law, Réjeanne Babin from Woodstock, Ont.; as well as one niece and three nephews, all from Ontario. Besides her parents, she was predecease­d by her only brother, Roméo Babin. Sister Jeannine worked in several profession­s during her life: first as a teacher for 25 years. She also taught music, worked as an auditor for the Marriage Tribunal in Bathurst, and did pastoral and missionary work for five years in Jamaica and Dominica. The celebratio­n of Sister Jeannine’s life will be held in Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church St., Moncton (506-858-1900) on Monday, January 4th, 2021 at 2 p.m. with a Celebratio­n of the Word presided by Father Edmour Babineau. Visiting hours are Monday from 1 p.m. until time of Celebratio­n of Life. Due to the pandemic, face coverings are required and a maximum participat­ion of 50 people at a time with social distancing regulation­s are in effect.
