WARD, David William "Bill"

-

1951-2020. It is with profound sadness that the family of David "Bill" Ward, 69, of Minasville, announce his passing on Monday, December 28, 2020 in Hants Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born at home in East Walton on December 10, 1951. He was a son of the late Nathan and Alverta (Lake) Ward. In his younger years, Bill worked as a roofer for many companies. Before retiring he worked 15 years as a Custodian for the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board. He took pride in his work but the children are what made his day enjoyable. He was well-liked by his co-workers and made many long- lasting friendships. Many people will remember Bill with a guitar in his hands and singing at local jams. He enjoyed camping with his family at Whale Creek and South Mountain Campground where he made lots of new friends. In his spare time you could find him bass fishing, tinkering in his garage or going on many long Sunday drives. Bill loved and enjoyed his family. He is survived by his wife and best friend Pat. He was a dedicated stepdad to Jarett (Kelly) Johnson, Port Ryerse, Ont. and Jenny Johnson, Falmouth. He had fond memories of his daughter, Cindy Ward. Grampie adored and loved each of his grandchildren; Victoria and Avery Johnson, Aiden and Kylie Allen. He will also be missed by his siblings, Margie Lake, John (Dorothy) Ward, Ken Ward ( Mary), Jackie Ward (Maurice) and brother- in-law, Edward Mcgrory and sister-inlaw, Vera Ward and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his brothers, Lowell Ward, Charlie Ward and twin brother, Blois Ward; his sisters, Elsie Mcgrory and Grace Thomas and brotherin-law, Melton Lake. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. The family wishes to send a special thank you to Bill’s Oncology team at the VG Site, QEII and Truro Hospital, his home support from Palliative Care and VON team and the wonderful doctors and nurses at Hants Community Hospital. We really appreciated all the help this past year from family and friends, especially Owen and Susie Smith and Ron Singer. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lindsay’s Funeral Home. There will be no visitation at Bills request. A memorial service will be held (masks and social distancing required) 2 p.m. Saturday, January 9th, in Lindsay Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0. A private family burial will follow in Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Town Road, Falmouth.
