LAMBKIN, Joyce Marie Therese

-

Born March, 1935, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020. She was the daughter of Irene Eva (Ormiston) and Captain William Robert Moore. She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald James Lambkin; and infant son, John Bradly Thornhill. She is survived by sons, Christopher William Thornhill ( Jutamas), Pattaya, Thailand; and Roland Jeffrey Thornhill (Rebecca), Chezzetcook; as well as grandchildren, Shaun (Kalynn), Danielle, Jenny (Luke), Abigael, Nui; and greatgrandchildren, Rae, Mckenna, Audrey, Walter. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly, and that love went both ways. In her early life she studied music at Dalhousie University, and was a member of the Armdale Choir. She was proud to be recognized for her 50 years of membership in the Canadian Kennel Club, as well as being a member of the Royal Commonwealth Society. She had been a member of Kiwanis, and a dedicated volunteer through the Dartmouth General Hospital Auxiliary. Our mom had a strong commitment to physical activity as was portrayed in her participation in horseback riding, curling, fencing, camping, and walking. She was the master of picnics. She enjoyed travelling with husband Ronnie and took every opportunity to do so. Nana had great passion for her grandchildren’s interests and activities, and never missed an event. Joyce developed many strong friendships over the years and her friends were an anchor in her life. Anyone that knew our Mom had great admiration for her unparalleled organizational skills that spanned from the cutlery drawer to the meticulously maintained photo albums, and everything in between. She was a member of Saint Clements parish, and remembered fondly attending mass at Southdale school while the church was being built. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Alderney at Lewis Hall for the exemplary, compassionate care during these last months of illness. Donations in Joyce’s memory can be made to: the Iwk/garron Centre by calling 1800-595-2266 or mail to: 5855 Spring Garden Rd., B220, Halifax, NS B3H 4S2.
