MILNE, William Thomas "Bill"

Age 80, of Dartmouth, passed away on January 8, 2021 in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Hagersvill­e, Ont., he was a son of the late Thomas and Ella Milne. Bill joined the Navy in 1957, at the age of 17. He married the love of his life, Jean in 1960, and they began their life together in Halifax. The family moved to various postings in Nova Scotia, Yellowknif­e, N.W.T. and Victoria, B.C., before resettling in Dartmouth in 1977. After retiring from the navy in 1982, he began working at the QEII Hospital where he remained for many years, retiring in 2000. He and Jean enjoyed square dancing for over 40 years and were members of the Starduster­s Club. They also loved travelling together, especially to Caribbean destinatio­ns. One of Bill’s favourite pastimes was fishing with his grandsons. Bill is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jean ( Julian); daughters, Brenda Callahan, Christine Winsor; son, William (Wanda); son-in-law, Dave Winsor; grandchild­ren, Shelley (Larry) Duhart, Ashley Callahan, Vicky Callahan (Nick Demas), Michael and Anthony Winsor, Dylan, Carson and Tyler Milne; great-grandchild­ren, Lilou, Jakob and Mason. He is also survived by his siblings, Llewella (Paul) Bentley, and James ( Marg) Milne; and many nieces and nephews. A private funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. on Wednesday, January 13th, Rev. Ivan Gregan officiatin­g in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771Main St., Dartmouth. For those who wish to view this livestream­ed event, please use the link on the funeral home website.
