JOSEY, Hanson Delmer

-

Age 85, of Dartmouth, passed away suddenly on January 7, 2021. Born in Spry Harbour, he was a son of the late Stanford and Laura (Baker) Josey. Hanson was an honest, hardworking, dedicated family man and loving husband. As a veteran of the Canadian music industry for more than 30 years, he had a guiding hand in the Atlantic country and rock music scene. Community and sport was in the head and heart of Hanson at all times, beginning with founding the Spry Harbour Atoms Athletic Club, and ending with the recent induction of his 1962 Spry Harbour Atoms Intermediate A fastball team into the Maritime Sport Hall of Fame. He also held leadership roles on numerous community boards and associations. Hanson was always about helping family in all their endeavours, including a successful business partnership with his late brother- in- law and dear friend Harry. Hanson’s generosity of spirit knew no bounds. He always supported family and friends no matter how difficult the situation. In retirement, he was able to continue enjoying his lifelong love of hunting, fishing, and golfing on his own pitch and putt at the family cottage. Hanson always enjoyed travel, playing games and cards with friends and family along with many surf and turf celebrations! Hanson’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He loved his wife Mary with all his heart and she blessed him with five children. His strength of character and determination lives on in his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Mary (Walsh); children, Krista (Gary), Michael (Dee), Trena (Iain), Laura Lee (Geoff), and Camilla; grandchildren, Cole ( Amanda), Nash, Lyon, Isaac (Katie), Hanna, Lucy, Julia, Lila, Sarah ( Jordy), Flora, Liam, and Ella; great granddaughters, Alanis, Elise, and Niamh; brothers, Densmore (Dorothy), and Ian (Kathleen); and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Hartley, Foster, Laurie, Owen, Millan; sister, Gaye; and infant great- granddaughter, Isabel. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Hanson’s life will be held at a later date. Heartfelt thanks to our neighbours, paramedics, and the emergency staff of the QEII Hospital for their care and support. Memorial donations may be mailed to St. Andrew’s Cemetery Fund of Spry Harbour, Spry Harbour, NS B0J 3H0. Online condolences may be made by visiting: www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com Dartmouth Chapel.
