MCCARTHY (Grandy), Sherry Elizabeth

Age 63, of Timberlea, peacefully passed on May 12, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born in Halifax to Willis and Ada Grandy. Devoted and loving wife of 37 years to Donald "Donnie" Mccarthy; little sister to Wendy (Roger) Mason, Coldstream, B.C.; loving mother to Shawna (Jay), Kelly (Coady) and the best Nana in the world to Breonna, Brooklyn, Jaelyn and Adalyn. Sherry began her career with the Nova Scotia Government after her graduation at Queen Elizabeth High School. Throughout her 31 year career, she worked in various departments such as Social Services, Community Services and the Department of Justice where she finally retired in 2007. Sherry spent her days to their absolute fullest with her husband, daughters, grandchildren, family and friends. Her love of feeding the Blue Jays and having her morning tea with her cat Floyd, will live on in her family’s hearts forever. Sherry was predeceased by her loving in-laws, Don and Betty Mccarthy. We would like to thank all of the doctors who assisted Mom through many years of treatment, especially Palliative Care, VON and Closing the Gap for their continued support while we kept mom at home, by our sides for as long as possible. Cremation has taken place and due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
