Truro man was stabbed, police allege

- HARRY SULLIVAN

TRURO — Prabhjot Singh Katri was fatally stabbed while getting into his vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment building at 494 Robie St., shortly after 2 a.m. on Sept. 5, according to details contained in informations to obtain search warrants (ITO).

Singh had been at the apartment visiting five friends and was stabbed while in the process of heading home, the ITOS show.

“He was stabbed upon getting into his vehicle that was parked in the parking lot. His friends observed a white Honda Civic fleeing the scene with two males in it immediately after the murder,” the heavily redacted ITOS say.

“The Civic left at high speeds and the tires were squealing.”

Two men have been arrested in the case, including Dylan Macdonald, 21, of Burris Drive, Valley, who is charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder.

The second individual has not yet been named but is described in a Truro Police Service news release as being a 20-year-old male from Pictou Landing First Nation.

Information contained in Macdonald's court documents indicate he is charged as being an accessory after the fact to murder by allegedly helping Cameron Prosper escape, knowing that Prosper had murdered Singh.

Police also issued an arrest warrant for a third man, Marcus Denny, 22, of Pictou

Landing First Nation, who has been charged with helping Prosper escape and also for providing false information about the case to police.

Macdonald is from 68 Burris Dr., Valley, which was the site of a search warrant that included the residence, an outbuilding and a white 2020 Honda Civic.

The ITOS say that Singh arrived at the Robie Street apartment building at about 12:30 that morning, after working as a taxi driver. After hanging out with his friends, he left at about 2 a.m., saying he had to work at a Tim Hortons outlet at 7 a.m.

The first Truro police officer to arrive at the scene told investigators that she saw two males at the end of the driveway who were yelling "hurry, he is up here."

When the officer got to the top of the stairs, the ITOS say, “the victim of the stabbing was lying in a large pool of blood.”

Singh was pronounced dead at 3:06 a.m.
