Ellison Peacekeepers shoot hoops and Give Giggles

- By GABBY BALL

The Ellison Peacekeepers are a group of dedicated students who help around our school and who fundraise for the community.

This year we have had two fundraisers. The first one was for the SPCA. We held a bake sale and raised $538.55 for the SPCA.

Our second fundraiser was our Toonie Hoops that raised money for the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation, Giving Giggles campaign. We partnered with the men’s and women’s basketball teams from UBC Okanagan.

The players came and ran some clinics to teach us basketball skills. Our students were encouraged to bring in a toonie to participate.

We raised $400 for kids and the Giving Giggles campaign, and presented the cheque at the Have a Heart Radiothon.

Gabby is a Grade 5 student at Ellison Elementary School.
