SENS 3, LEAFS 2 (SO)

TORONTO — The Ottawa Senators rallied for their fifth win in the last six games and a perfect three-game road trip, topping the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday night.

Tom Pyatt scored the shootout winner after Mike Hoffman notched the game-tying goal with 71 seconds left in regulation. Bobby Ryan also found the back of the net for Ottawa (25-15-4), second in the Atlantic division with 54 points — three points up on the Leafs, who have lost two straight.

Mike Condon made 31 stops in the win; Frederik Andersen made 25 saves.

Tyler Bozak and Matt Martin both scored for Toronto, which dropped to 1-6 in the shootout this season.

The two teams were meeting for the second time in a week, the Leafs capturing the Jan. 14 affair 4-2 in the nation’s capital. Toronto was coming off a porous effort against the Rangers on Thursday night, one that head coach Mike Babcock dubbed as “terrible” for its lacking competitiveness.

JETS 5, BLUES 3

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Bryan Little scored twice on the power play, Ondrej Pavelec set a franchise record for saves in a period and Winnipeg handed St. Louis its third straight loss.

Pavelec, who start his second game this season after being called up from the minors on Tuesday, broke his own franchise record for saves in a period with 25 in the second. He had a 24-save period on Oct. 31, 2009, against Ottawa. Pavelec made 34 saves for the game. Blues goalie Pheonix Copley, a native of North Pole, Alaska, made his first NHL start and had 24 saves. He played in one game last season.

Blake Wheeler, Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers also scored for Winnipeg.

SABRES 3, HABS 2 (OT)

MONTREAL — Zach Bogosian scored his first goal of the season in overtime and Buffalo beat Montreal in the second game of a back-toback for both teams.

Sabres captain Brian Gionta and Cody Franson also scored. Robin Lehner stopped 36 shots.

Artturi Lehkonen and Phillip Danault scored for Montreal, and Carey Price made 35 saves.

Price conceded three goals for the ninth time in his last 11 starts. The Habs netminder came into Saturday's contest with a 3.46 goalsagainst average in his last 10 games.

Bogosian scored with a slap shot 1:48 into overtime, just a few seconds after Lehner robbed Montreal’s Alex Galchenyuk from the slot with his glove.

OILERS 7, FLAMES 3

CALGARY — Jordan Eberle scored twice and added two assists as the Edmonton Oilers beat the Calgary Flames 7-3 on Saturday to sweep the four-game season series for the first time.

Eberle’s wrist shot at 5:58 of the first period made it 3-0 for the visitors and prompted a goalie change as Flames coach Glen Gulutzan brought in Brian Elliott for Chad Johnson, who allowed three goals on four shots.

Connor McDavid, Anton Slepyshev, Mark Letestu, Oscar Klefbom and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also scored for Edmonton (26-15-8). The streaking Oilers are 5-0-1 in their last six.
