• Parent Child Mother Goose, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Westbank library. The Okanagan Regional Library and Clubhouse Childcare Centre offer a two-hour oral literacy program that teaches parents fun ways to interact with their child aged birth to four years. This free, drop-in program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Developmen­t. Snack time and play time included in each session.

• Family Playtime at the Webber Road Community Centre at 2829 Inverness Rd., 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children newborn to five years with a parent or caregiver. • Leona of Eastside Hips presents Two of Hearts, an evening of belly dance and more at Little Straw Vineyards at 2815 Ourtoland Rd. in West Kelowna. Tickets include snacks and wine tasting and cost $10 in advance, $15 at the door and $5 for children. Saturday, Feb. 25

• Help Irene Fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. at Whiski-Jack’s Pub at 2442 Drought Rd. Irene Shindelka lost her home and all her belongings on a fire on Halloween. Proceeds from this fundraiser will help her get back on her feet again.

• Westbank Country Opry with special guest Cadillac Bob at Emmanuel Church at 2600 Hebert Rd. Doors open at 1 p.m. Show starts at 2 p.m. sharp. There is an intermissi­on at approximat­ely 3 p.m. and coffee and snacks are available courtesy of Emmanuel Church. Admission at the door is $10.

• SMART (Self Management And Recovery Training) Recovery meeting 7 p.m. at the Westbank Lions Community Hall. SMART Recovery's four-point program helps people recover from all types of addictive behaviours, including alcoholism, drug abuse, substance abuse, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, gambling addiction, cocaine addiction and addiction to other substances and activities. Meetings are free, confidenti­al and last for about an hour.

• Let’s Talk Diabetes from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Johnson-Bentley pool. Presented by the Diabetes Associatio­n, this talk was developed for adults living with diabetes and care-givers who wish to learn more about the disease. Learn helpful tips for day-to-day healthy living with diabetes, including nutrition, weight management, goal setting plus the signs and symptoms of common complicati­ons associated with diabetes. Free. Those wishing to attend must register in advance by calling the pool at 250-768-4442.

Friday March 3

• Join in Christian fellowship to pray for and learn more about another part of the world at the annual World Day of Prayer at 1 p.m. at our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at 2547 Hebert Rd. The service for this year was written by the women of the Philippine­s with the theme Am I Being Unfair to You. Representa­tives from the local churches and their members will participat­e. This event is open to men and women. Reception to follow.
