Drunk driving death hard to comprehend

Editor: Re: Woman jailed for drunk driving death, March 1 in The Daily Courier.

Once again this sad news of yet another death due to drinking and driving was hard to take and comprehend.

How can this still be happening out there? How many completely moronic dunces are out there in the Okanagan? I really wonder, and truly and sincerely, if this woman has ever read an article in her whole life or if she has just has chosen to simply not care at all about the shocking local statistics of drinking and driving. This would be utter ignorance then.

I have learned myself to be much more careful and to make better decisions. I decided to drink beers two to three nights a week only for quite some time now and when I do go out for beer (which is now rare and a big life-decision change), to keep it super real and stop at one single pint of beer before driving home.

Or, as during Super Bowl for example, make a call to one of the many fine helpful services offered here in Kelowna.

One of these services is called Gals Designated Drivers and how they work is that they send two designated drivers to come get you and your car and for a price that is even less than a cab fare.

Then they retrieve both you and your car and get you back home safely. What a great concept.

And affordable too. I was pleasantly impressed when I heard of this service.

Please make that life-saving choice and call Gals when need be and if they are too busy after this plug, call a cab for crying out loud. Stop being stupid out there.

How is it possible for the Vernon driver who killed a Kelowna nurse and seriously injured another to be given only three years in prison?

This is what is completely wrong with the justice system. Our laws are so slack. This is why the Okanagan will never make good strides on improving its drinking and driving record.

Be safe good caring people out there. And a super sorry to anyone who has lost a loved one to an impaired man or woman. We can only be hopeful the stats will change for the much better one day real soon. Fingers crossed for all.
