Warriors D off to Air Force

West Kelowna Warriors defenceman Tyler Jutting has committed to the Air Force Academy Falcons for the 2018-19 season.

Jutting, 19, has spent the bulk of the 2016-17 season with the Warriors, playing in 48 games and amassing one goals and nine points to along with 47 penalty minutes in that span.

The Mankato, Minnesota ,native has been improving ever since his arrival in West Kelowna and was named as the most improved player at the Warriors annual year-end awards.

Jutting spent time with the Shattuck’s St. Mary’s prep team for two seasons prior to his arrival with the Warriors.

The 6’3”, 204-pound defenceman played a total of 93 games with the program, collecting five goals and 38 points in that time to go along with 96 penalty minutes.

“We want to congratula­te Tyler and his family on the achievemen­t,” said Warriors head coach and general manager Rylan Ferster, “He’s been a shutdown defenceman for us and has come a long way and was a deserving winner of our most improved player award.”

“I was very impressed in what they have to offer there,” said the newest commit to the Air Force Academy Falcons in Jutting, “It’s an excellent program, I think it will be a great fit and a great opportunit­y for myself.”

The Falcons play their home games out of the Cadet Ice Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and play in the Atlantic Hockey Conference where they finished second in the 2016-17 season with a record of 22-9-5. They are led by head coach Frank Serratore who has been behind the Falcons bench since 1997-98.
