Automation driving customer up the wall

-

Editor:

This morning, I had the occasion to contact my local Scotiabank to find out their hours of operation.

Quite the challenge, as it unfolded. I first called directory assistance to get the phone number of my branch.

Upon phoning that number, I was greeted by a robot. Not just any robot, mind you.

This one was particularly bad because it took almost forever to plough through the many, many options available to me, none of which gave me the information I required.

You know, the hours of operation for the bank.

Quite frankly, I gave up in despair, choosing instead to walk down to find out for myself when the hours of operation were. I gave up on Mr. Robot Stupid. So then it hit me. We should have a contest to see who can come up with the worst robot in Kelowna.

To begin the contest, I provide two. The first is the robot used by Scotiabank. That one is pretty good/bad.

In for a very close second is the robot at the self-check out at Save-On Foods. That one is really stupid.

It is particularly annoying because it is so stupid it can send me into a blinding rage within seconds of my placing my reusable on the bag scale.

To add insult to injury here is the fact that corporate owner Jimmy Pattison does not even have the courtesy to provide a Nerf Bat so that you can at least try to beat some sense into the freakin’ thing and feel a tad bit better doing it.

So here it is, my fellow readers. Send in your nominations for worst robot in Kelowna. I’ll bet when we put our heads together on this issue, the results will be a real dilly.
