B.C. should thank premier for strong leadership

-

Editor: In contrast to numerous editorials and letters to the editor, I offer the following:

Christy Clark has proven that she possesses the leadership qualities, vision and determination that are required to keep B.C. at the head of economic growth across Canada.

Against formidable odds through the last recessionary period, she and her cabinet have shown the foresight and determination to follow a vision of growth for our provincial economy and a bright future for all residents of the province.

She and her cabinet have continued to follow a path of prosperity and security for all residents of British Columbia. Accordingly, she and her caucus deserve accolades for their success and all British Columbians owe a debt of gratitude and support for the significant results that they have achieved.

Absent a progressive and fiscally responsible approach to government, the opportunities to all residents of this province would otherwise be severely restricted.

The opposition parties offer no track record of fiscal prudence nor effective governance.

To note just a few achievements of our current provincial government, we should recognize the following:

— Moody’s Investors Service has confirmed B.C.’s AAA credit rating for the 12th year in a row, as well as a stable outlook, thanks in part to the province’s track record of prudent fiscal planning and diversified economy leading to economic growth. and

— British Columbia is expected to be the fastest-growing province for the next two years with its economy expanding by three per cent in both 2016 and 2017.

We only need look to Alberta to see the impact of a government in disarray. We do ourselves a disservice if we consider returning to shallow promises and deficit financing.

I will continue to support both Christy Clark and the BC Liberal government as the stewards of a strong and progressive management of our province’s future.

Gerry Clark, Kelowna
