• Native taco fundraiser at Pine Acres Care Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fresh bannock with taco toppings, drink and dessert for $7. Proceeds go to the Residents Council to cover costs such as entertainment and special projects. Come and discover the best native tacos ever. • Kids ages 5 to 12 can build amazing creations at Lego Builders from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Westbank Library at No. 31, 2484 Main St. Lego provided. This is a free, drop-in event. Lego Builders meets the third Wednesday of every month.
• Find out more about Toastmasters as the Westside Toastmasters host a free open house at 7 p.m. sharp at the Lakeview Heights Community Hall at 860 Anders Rd. Toastmasters offers a range of activities from public speaking courses to development programs in communication and leadership. Toastmasters is open to anyone over 18. Light refreshments will be served.
• Parents can attend a free Parenting Social Media presentation with Jessie Miller from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Dr. Knox Middle School in Kelowna. Miller is a respected speaker on the topics of social media awareness, social networking behaviour and online content evaluation. Register in advance online at sd23.bc. ca.

• Tracks Walking Club meets at Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park at 9 a.m. Free beginner walking program. Members receive a walking journal, walking tips, seminars and motivational tips. Participants at a beginner fitness level are encouraged to take part, gradually increasing their health, stamina and walking duration to 60 minutes. Tracks is recognized as a B.C. • Toddler Time from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. at the Westbank Library. Free parent-participation program for children 18 months to three years old and their caregivers featuring songs, action rhymes and stories. No registration required.
• The Writers’ Group meets from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Westbank Library at 2484 Main St. If you are interested in self-publishing a book, please join them at the Westbank Library. No registration required. For more information, call the library at 250-768-4369 or Blair at 250-448-1959.
• Glenrosa Elementary hosts the Early Learning for Families program for neighbourhood parents and children three to five years old who are not already in kindergarten. The program helps families with preschoolers make early connections with their neighbourhood school. Research has shown children do better when parents are involved in their education. • Parents can attend a free presentation on social media with Jessie Miller from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Okanagan Mission Secondary School in Kelowna. Register in advance online at sd23.bc. ca.
Friday, April 21
• Family Playtime at the Webber Road Community Centre at 2829 Inverness Rd. from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children newborn to five years with a parent or caregiver. Drop in for social interaction with other parents, playtime for children and enjoy lunch together. Activities may include a craft, gym time and circle time with stories and songs. Free. • Ignite the Spirit: an evening of contemporary Christian music at 7 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church at 1162 Hudson Rd. in West Kelowna. Come join the Grace Lutheran Church Worship Band as they praise God together in song. Free. For more information, call the church at 250-769-5685.
• Parent Child Mother Goose from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Westbank library at 31 - 2484 Main St. in Westridge Mall. The Okanagan Regional Library and the Clubhouse Childcare Centre offer a two-hour oral literacy program that teaches parents fun ways to interact with their child aged birth to four years. This free, drop-in program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Snack time and play time included in each session.
Sunday, April 23
• The 2017 Okanagan Daffodil Dash, a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rotary Park 2125 Boucherie Rd. There will be a 1 kilometre, 5-km and 10-km run along the shores of Okanagan Lake. This year there will be a healthy choices market along with a public barbecue to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. Put on your sunniest yellow outfit, grab your friends and be part of this fun, family-friendly event. There are great prizes for the wackiest, craziest, yellow-est costumes.
Monday, April 24
Let’s Talk Diabetes, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at the Johnson Bentley pool. This free talk presented by the Diabetes Association is for adults living with diabetes and caregivers who wish to learn more about the disease. Registration must be done in advance by calling the pool at 250-768-4442.
