Friday, April 28

• Family Playtime at the Webber Road Community Centre at 2829 Inverness Rd. from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children newborn to five years with a parent or caregiver. Drop in for social interaction with other parents, playtime for children and enjoy lunch together. Activities may include a craft, gym time and circle time with stories and songs. There will be a parenting workshop on Baby’s Best Chance from 11 a.m. to noon with public health officials coming to discuss issues relevant to children and families. • The second annual Senior’s Health and Wellness Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Heritage at 3630 Brown Rd.There will be a variety of interactive ideas and resources which promote a healthy lifestyle including wellness resources, exhibits, family health and nutrition safety, mini manicures and pedicures, chair messages.

• Mount Boucherie Bear Stage Theatre presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Mount Boucherie Secondary School at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $8 and are available at the school or by calling 250-870-5000 ext. 6710.

• Digital Device Help from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Westbank Library. The Westside Health Network Society has teamed up with UBCO to offer free 30-minute tutorials to help people with their phone, tablet or laptop. This is not a full introductory class, but an opportunity for participants to get help with one or two questions about their device. To register, visit the library or call 250-768-4369.

• Parent Child Mother Goose from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Westbank library. The Okanagan Regional Library and the Clubhouse Childcare Centre offer a two-hour oral literacy program that teaches parents fun ways to interact with their child aged birth to four years.This free, drop-in program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Snack time and play time included in each session.

Saturday, April 29

• Miniature Enthusiasts of Central Okanagan presents the 23rd Annual Dollhouse Miniatures Show and Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Peachland Community Centre at 4450 6th St. in Peachland. Admission is $3. Children under eight are free. For more information, call Barb at 250-767-2842.

• Mount Boucherie Bear Stage Theatre presents A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Mount Boucherie Secondary School at 6 p.m. Tickets cost $8 and are available at the school or by calling 250-870-5000 ext. 6710.

• Mia Escuelita Preschool at 2702 Boucherie Rd. hosts a bake sale at noon. Each item will cost $1. Proceeds go to help the children in Somalia, Yemen and Sudan.

• Member of Parliament Dan Albas will host a Peachland Seniors Forum, 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Peachland Community Centre at 4450 6th St. in Peachland. The forum is designed to provide seniors and their adult children the information and resources needed as they or their family members age. Presentations at the forum will include a keynote address by Martha Jane Lewis from Seniors First B.C. (formerly known as the B.C. Centre for Elder Advocacy and Support), local experts on dementia and seniors’ finances, and The Peachland Wellness Centre.

Sunday, April 30

• The Westbank Country Opry with special guest John Fairchild at Emmanuel Church. Doors will open at 1 p.m. and the show starts at 2 p.m. There is an intermission at approximately 3 p.m. and coffee and snacks are available courtesy of Emmanuel Church.

Monday, May 1

The Greater Westside Board of Trade hosts an all-candidates forum for Kelowna West at the Westbank Lions Community Centre at 2466 Main St. Doors open at 6 p.m. Forum begins at 6:30 p.m. sharp and ends at 8:30 p.m All candidates have been invited to participate. • Self-Management And Recovery Training Recovery meeting 7 p.m. at the Westbank Lions Community Hall. SMART Recovery's four-point program helps people recover from all types of addictive behaviours, including alcoholism, drug abuse, substance abuse, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, gambling addiction, cocaine addiction and addiction to other substances and activities. Meetings are free, confidential and last for about an hour.
