Scanner up but not running
Kelowna General Hospital recently acquired a new CT scanner, but the hospital is still trying to figure out staffing levels and scheduling to get the most use out of it.
“Interior Health is currently working through the details of implementing the third CT scanner at Kelowna General Hospital, including determining the appropriate staffing levels for the service,” said Tim Rode, acting program director of diagnostic imaging, in an email statement.
KGH is the first hospital within Interior Health to have three CT scanners and the first to have a CT scanner located directly inside the emergency department, he said.
The CT scanner was purchased for $1.9 million, raised by members of the hospital’s four auxiliaries.
