‘Be Bold for Change’

The website Thebookofmolly.com, a lifestyle blog based in Kelowna, and the Inspired Word Cafe are joining forces for a night of sharing stories and poetry revolving around the theme “Be Bold for Change.”

Entry is $5 with a bag of non-perishable food items and/or a box of pads, tampons, liners, etc. All proceeds will be delivered to the Kelowna Women’s Shelter and the Kelowna Gospel Mission.

“Heroes came to my mind after I attended an open mike evening with the Inspired Word Cafe. After leaving the event, I felt empowered and passion filled my body,” Molly Gibson Kirby, host and creator of HERoes, said.

The night will feature six poets writing new poems for the event. Gillianne Richard will be the keynote speaker. After Richards’ talk, there will be a panel about feminism, equal rights, what Kelowna can do to become more inclusive, etc. HERoes will take place at 7 p.m. on May 18 at the Kelowna Forum, 1317 Ethel St
