Kelowna RCMP are searching for a suspect following an overnight theft of hockey jerseys.

Police responded to a commercial alarm with several motion and glass break hits at Rusty’s Sports Bar and Grill in the 1500 block of Dilworth Drive last Thursday at 2:51 a.m.

On arrival, officers discovered a west door of the restaurant had been smashed and someone had entered the building.

Once inside, the suspect allegedly smashed wall display cases holding nine NHL jerseys, which were taken, said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

The thief also unsuccessfully targeted a lotto terminal inside the bar area of the business.

Police services dogs searched the area for the suspect but were unsuccessful.

Video surveillance images show the suspect wearing blue jeans, a black jacket with white markings, a blue scarf and a pair of blue, black and white sneakers. The suspect is also seen carrying the stolen jerseys. “Our hope is that the public may recognize our suspect from their clothing and come forward with tip information,” said O’Donaghey.

Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP at 250-762-3300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
