Don’t leave pets or kids in car

-

Editor: Its that time of year again. You know that time, when totally ignorant, uneducated Kelowna residents not only bring their dogs with them in their car or truck then don’t crack the windows open so the poor guys won’t overheat and potentially die.

On May 14, Mother’s Day, I had to report a truck that had its windows totally shut with two dogs barking in distress. It really has begun to irk me, seeing this year after year and hearing all the horror stories on the news and in the papers.

Ignorant people: If it is even 16 C to 18 C degrees out, add 10 degrees at least inside that vehicle. This presents much danger to your pet(s). If you cannot take good solid care of a pet, why even have one? It’s not fair at all to them. As if you do not know that they are unable to roll down windows for themselves.

The very same goes for young infants, even at a much more dangerous risk level.

And if you are the same dunces smoking in your vehicle with pets or infants, ask yourself if you are even fit at all to have pets or kids.

Do the math, (or try to): When it gets 30 C outside, how hot does that make your vehicle inside if you just add 10 degrees? And only 10 degrees is only a guesstimate. It could easily be 15 degrees hotter in there.

Please help me report more idiots to save more lives of pets and young infants/kids. The older couple I addressed this with gave me the whole ‘Well, we were only inside the grocery store for a few minutes’ excuse. Really? What happened if an important phone call came in to totally distract you or any of the what ifs in life? Then you may have come back to a couple of dogs dead from heat exhaustion in your car.

Wake up! Why even bring your dogs with you I ask?
