• Family Playtime at the Webber Road Community Centre at 2829 Inverness Rd. from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children newborn to five years with a parent or caregiver. Drop in for social interactio­n with other parents, playtime for children and enjoy lunch together. Activities may include a craft, gym time and circle time with stories and songs. Free. Saturday, June 10

• Go Fish at Shannon Lake Regional Park from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The pond will be stocked with trout, ready and waiting to be caught. The Freshwater Fisheries Society and volunteers from the Peachland Sports-men’s Associatio­n will be on hand to help new fishers. This program is for children 15 and under, with a one fish per day limit. No fishing license is required for B.C. children 15 and under. A limited number of rods, reels and bait will be available each weekend for youngsters to use.

• Find out who will be the members of the 2017 -2018 West Kelowna Youth Ambassador Team at the Pageant and Election evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Emmanuel Assembly located on Hebert Rd., next to the Holiday Inn.Tickets cost $10 per person and children under 10 are admitted free.

Sunday, June 11

• Attend a free parenting workshop on speech and language from 11 a.m. to noon during Family Playtime at the Webber Road Boys and Girls Club. Public health profession­als will be on hand for discussion­s on issues relevant to children and families. Child minding will be available. Call ahead as topics and times are subject to change. Family Playtime is a free drop-in program from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children birth to five years old and their parents or caregivers.

• Self-Management And Recovery Training Recovery meeting 7 p.m. at the Westbank Lions Community Hall. SMART Recovery's four-point program helps people recover from all types of addictive behaviours, including alcoholism, drug abuse, substance abuse, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, gambling addiction, cocaine addiction and addiction to other substances and activities. Meetings are free, confidenti­al and last for about an hour.

• Parent Child Mother Goose from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Westbank library at 31 2484 Main St. in Westridge Mall.

The Okanagan Regional Library and the Clubhouse Childcare Centre offer a two-hour oral literacy program that teaches parents fun ways to interact with their child aged birth to four years. This free, drop-in program is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Developmen­t. Snack time and play time included in each session.

Tuesday, June 13

• Tracks Walking Club meets at Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park at 9 a.m. Free beginner walking program. Members receive a walking journal, walking tips, seminars and motivation­al tips. Participan­ts at a beginner fitness level are encouraged to take part gradually increasing their health, stamina and walking duration to 60 minutes. Tracks is recognized as a B.C.
