Kelowna sending 14 kids to Summer Games in Lithuania
Kelowna is sending 14 young athletes to the upcoming International Children’s Summer Games in Kaunas, Lithuania, from July 4 to 9.
They will be competing in swimming, sailing and — for the first time ever — beach volleyball.
The athletes will be accompanied by four coaches, one head of delegation and one city representative for a total of 20 from Kelowna.
In girls’ beach volleyball, Tessa Ivans and Jasaana Kunz will be coached by Jacky Ivans. In boys’ beach volleyball, Maxim Gagne and Maxwell Ivans will be coached by Cheryl Gagne.
In sailing, Gabriella Littleton and Ryan Rubadeau will be coached by Devin Rubadeau.
The swimming contingent will consist of Olivia Courtney, Flyn Huber, Evan Kohnke, Brandon Mullin, Ella Rolleston, Brooklyn Semashkewich, Renier Stone and Journee Tozer.
The head of delegation is Lance Macdonald and the city rep is Heather Schneider.
The summer games in Kaunas will feature more than 1,700 athletes from 91 cities around the world.
