Warriors to play in BCHL Showcase

The West Kelowna Warriors will be competing in the 2017 Bauer BCHL Showcase, which will take place Wednesday, Sept. 20 to Sunday, Sept. 24 in Chilliwack at Prospera Centre.

According to the BCHL, all 17 teams will play two games each at the Showcase. All games will count in the regular-season standings.

The Showcase, which started in 2012, has featured such players as NHLers Troy Stecher, Danton Heinen and Tyson Jost as well as 19 NHL draft picks including Dante Fabbro, Dennis Cholowski, Adam Tambellini, Jack Ramsey, Dane Birks and Nolan De Jong.

The Warriors will face-off against the Mainland Division’s Coquitlam Express and the Island Division’s Cowichan Valley Capitals in the fifth annual running of the event. West Kelowna opens up their Showcase schedule against the Express,on Wednesday, September 20 at 7 p.m., then conclude their two-game schedule against the Capitals on Thursday, September 21 at 4 p.m.

The Warriors have had plenty of success at the Bauer BCHL Showcase. They head into the 2017 version of the event with an 8-2 record in 10 previous games, including victories in their last six games in a row.

The Warriors and Express will play each other for the second consecutiv­e year at the Showcase while the Warriors and Capitals will match-up against each other for the second time at the Showcase.

West Kelowna went a combined 4-1 against the two teams in the 2016/17 regular season.
