Aspiring filmmakers are invited to enter submissions in the 3rd annual Reel Peachfest Film Festival, part of the 70th annual Penticton Peach Festival, Aug. 9-13. Deadline for submissions is Aug. 6. “We are pushing for more creative miniepics about the Okanagan versus corporate infomercials,” festival organizer Andrew Jakubeit said.

“We are starting to get submissions and so far there are some impressive entries. With only two weekends left to film, edit and submit, time is of the essence.”

Prior to the main acts taking to the stage each night at Okanagan Lake Park, short films of 1-3 minutes will be screened. The films have proven to be a popular attraction over the past two years.

The two categories are Okanagan liquid libations and Okanagan experiences. There is also a people's choice award.

First prize is $1,000, plus a weekend getaway to the Penticton Lakeside Resort. Second prize is $500, while third prize, plus the fan favourite award is $250. Online voting for the fan favourite runs between Aug. 912.

The festival is open to all ages and abilities. For more information on about the film festival, rules, and to view past submissions visit www.reelpeachfest.com.
