Overrun with deer

-

Editor: I have lived in the Upper Mission for 39 years we raised our children here, we deliver The Daily Courier and there is never a day goes by that we don’t see deer eat everything in sight.

This year, I didn't plant anything in the front yard as they eat it. We don’t feed the birds anymore as they eat the bird food. We found one dead in Kettle Valley it hung it self in a fence trying to get in someone’s backyard.

I am sure the parents taking their children to school that morning had fun trying to explain this to their children.

We have seen herds of up to 25. A couple of weeks ago we had family visiting and our 12year-old grandson was sleeping in a tent in our fenced backyard and he woke to a deer bumping the tent. Yes, it was a deer.

Our neighbour had two does and three fawns living in the backyard. He came home from holidays to lots of deer poo then trying to get them to move on was interesting.

We used to phone each other when we saw a deer. Now, we phone each other to warn each other of deer.

I don’t think anything will be done until someone is hurt. A West Kelowna man wrote a letter this week to say he loves the deer in his yard. Then, please come and get them, Roy King. We will help you round them up. I used to love seeing them, but not anymore
