Warriors to play six games in pre-season schedule

The West Kelowna Warriors’ pre-season schedule will see them playing six games in late August and early September.

Similar to the 2016/17 exhibition schedule, the Warriors will play three home games at Royal LePage Place and three road games. The Warriors will see the same opponents as last season’s exhibition contests, as they battle Interior Division foes Penticton, Merritt and Salmon Arm. Schedule: Wednesday, Aug. 23, vs. Penticton, at RLP, 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, vs. Merritt, at RLP, 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Merritt, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Penticton, 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, at Salmon Arm, 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, vs Salmon Arm, at RLP, 7 p.m. Tickets for all West Kelowna pre-season games will be available at the Warriors’ office before the game or at the Warriors box office before puck drop, and cost $5.

The city of West Kelowna is in the final stages of flood recovery and City crews have now completed sandbag removal from all public properties.

Any area resident who has sandbags remaining on their property or docks are asked to have them to the curbside by end of day Monday, Aug. 7. A small cleanup crew will sweep neighbourh­oods Aug. 8 and 9 to conduct final sandbag removal. Homeowners will be responsibl­e for disposal of any remaining sandbags after this date.

Detached orphaned dock removal is ongoing by barge and will take several weeks to complete. Clearly mark items for removal with bright paint or flagging tape.

The city has conducted an assessment of all public property that has been impacted by this spring’s flooding and work has begun to clean and repair these areas. Residents of West Kelowna will see crews working in parks, boulevards and roadways over the coming weeks.
