Wednesday, Aug. 9

• Susan Driussi, Louise McIntosh, Sheila Burton and Susan Haglund and Connie Ross are the featured artists at the Peachland Little Schoolhous­e’s Art Program this week. Driussi is an eclectic artist experiment­ing with fibre arts, mixed media, watercolou­r and acrylics. McIntosh is still experiment­ing and is drawn to acrylic landscapes and flowers. Burton has discovered the wonder of acrylic and Haglund works in acrylics and enjoys creating vibrant contempora­ry and abstract works, especially quirky animals. Thursday, Aug. 10

• Storytime for children three-to-five year olds at 10 a.m. at the Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park. Bring the little ones for this free drop-in program Thursdays during July and August There will be fun, interactiv­e stories and exploratio­n of nearby flora and fauna through a series of mini nature walks. Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park is located at 2375 Whitworth Rd. in West Kelowna.

• Park Play Days, a free casual drop-in program for children and their parents and caregivers, will be at Smith Creek Park on Saddle Ridge Drive from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Each Park Play Day provides a variety of fun activities for children two to eight years old and adults including an active craft and lots of equipment to develop sport literacy skills. • Needlecraf­t social for adults from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Peachland Library, No. 40, Peachland Village Mall, 5500 Clements Cres. in Peachland. Bring your crochet, knitting or any handicraft for time to share ideas, learn, or just socialize.

• The Westbank Country Opry will be performing at the free weekly Music in the Park concert from 6:40 to 9 p.m. at the Annette Beaudreau Amphitheat­re in Memorial Park by the Johnson-Bentley pool. Bring your own lawn chair. Food and beverage vendors on site.

• Family Playtime at the Webber Road Community Centre at 2829 Inverness Rd. from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children newborn to five years with a parent or caregiver. Drop in for social interactio­n with other parents, playtime for children and enjoy lunch together. Activities may include a craft, gym time and circle time with stories and songs. Free. Saturday, Aug. 12

• It’s time for the Cutest Dog Contest at the Westbank Farmers’ Market. Sign up early at the market. The contest takes place at 9:45 a.m. Categories are cutest dog, well-mannered, best trick and overall appearance and behaviour. The market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Westridge Shopping Centre on the corner of Main Street and Elliott Road. Entertainm­ent is provided each week. New vendors welcome. • The Bat Education and Ecological Protection Society will be holding a bat count at dusk. Come help count as the bats leave the attic of the Peachland Historic Primary School building at 5684 Beach Ave.

• North Westside Fire Rescue annual fundraiser from 2 to 8 p.m. at the La Casa Resort amenities area. Live auction, music, children’s auction, 50/50 and door prizes. Your choice of a burger, smoky or veggie burger with a salad and a drink for $12. Free hot dogs for kids. Pop, water and ice cream. • The Okanagan British Car Club celebrates British automobile­s as it hosts the Rally in the Valley car show from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Heritage Park in Peachland. If you have a British vehicle, you can bring it down and join the show for $10. Free admission.

Sunday, Aug. 13

• The Westbank Legion will be rememberin­g the Battle Of Dieppe’s 75th Anniversar­y. Services to start at 3 p.m. with a meal to follow. Veterans, spouses and caregivers will receive a free meal and all others will be asked to pay a small fee. The Legion is looking for any veterans in the area who served at Dieppe and would appreciate hearing from any of them. They can call the Legion at 250-768-4330 or Joan Steeves at 250-768-0803. The Westbank Legion has been holding this service since the 60th anniversar­y of Dieppe in 2002.

• Sunday Tea at the Peachland Little Schoolhous­e from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Susan Driussi, Louise McIntosh, Sheila Burton and Susan Haglund and Connie Ross are the featured artists at the Peachland Little Schoolhous­e’s Art Program this week and will be on hand. Bring a friend, enjoy the art and savour a delicious desert.

• Art in the Park — Vineyard Trails will be at Quails’ Gate Winery from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Louise Lambert, painter, and Allan Waidman, sculptor, once again co-host Art in the Park featuring local artists in vineyard setting. Meet some of the best artists in the valley displaying their paintings, sculpture and artwork and. Watch as they create new masterpiec­es on site.

• Cod Gone Wild perform at the Peachland Rotary Peace Concert at the Rotary Pavilion in Heritage Park in Peachland. Food kiosk opens at 3 p.m. Music at 4 p.m. Bring your lawn chair. Donations from the public provide funding for Shelter Boxes which are deployed to disaster areas around the world. Through the club, 43 shelter boxes have been distribute­d since 2010.

• Peachland Farmers and Crafters Market is open in Heritage Park on Beach Avenue in Peachland from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 14

• Participac­tion 150 Play List Camp for children six to 12 years of age with the theme of Beach Day will take place at the Westbank Lions Community Centre from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The Participac­tion 150 Play List is a national program designed to encourage all Canadians to sit less and move more. In celebratio­n of Canada’s 150th birthday, City of West Kelowna staff will be challengin­g the group to complete a number of themed activities on the list grouped into a variety of themes.
