• The Westbank Country Opry will be performing at the free weekly Music in the Park concert this evening from 6:40 to 9 p.m. at the Annette Beaudreau Amphitheat­re in Memorial Park by the Johnson-Bentley pool. Bring your own lawn chair. Food and beverage vendors on site.

• Family Playtime at the Webber Road Community Centre at 2829 Inverness Rd. from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for children newborn to five years with a parent or caregiver. Drop in for social interactio­n with other parents, playtime for children and enjoy lunch together. Activities may include a craft, gym time and circle time with stories and songs. Free. • Susan Driussi, Louise McIntosh, Sheila Burton and Susan Haglund are the featured artists at the Peachland Little Schoolhous­e’s Art Program this week. Driussi is an eclectic artist experiment­ing with fibre arts, mixed media, watercolou­r and acrylics. McIntosh is still experiment­ing and is drawn to acrylic landscapes and flowers. Burton has discovered the wonder of acrylic and Haglund works in acrylics and enjoys creating vibrant contempora­ry and abstract works, especially quirky animals. Open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Peachland Little Schoolhous­e is located on Brandon Lane off Fourth Street.

It’s time for the Cutest Dog Contest at the Westbank Farmers Market. Sign up early at the market. The contest takes place at 9:45 a.m. Categories are cutest dog, well-mannered, best trick and overall appearance and behaviour. The market runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Westridge Shopping Centre on the corner of Main Street and Elliott Road. Entertainm­ent is provided each week. New vendors welcome. • The Bat Education and Ecological Protection Society will be holding a bat count at dusk. Come help count as the bats leave the attic of the Peachland Historic Primary School building at 5684 Beach Ave.

• North Westside Fire Rescue annual fundraiser from 2 to 8 p.m. at the La Casa Resort amenities area. Live auction, music, children’s auction, 50/50 and door prizes. Your choice of a burger, smokie or veggie burger with a salad and a drink for $12. Free hot dogs for kids. Pop, water and ice cream.
