Jason McBride 1 of 3 men charged with 2011 murder of Jonathan Bacon

Email messages from an encrypted BlackBerry show one of the accused in the Jonathan Bacon murder trial went to Kelowna the night before the fatal shooting because three of the victims were there, a Crown lawyer alleged in a Kelowna court Wednesday.

Janet Johnston, a criminal intelligence analyst with the RCMP, presented thousands of email messages to the court sent between moonbat@lockbox.tv, alleged to be Amir Eghtesad, and odin@lockbox.tv, alleged to be Jason McBride, for the second day.

McBride, Jujhar Khun-Khun and Michael Jones are on trial for the first-degree murder of Bacon during a gang shooting on Aug. 14, 2011, outside Kelowna’s Delta Grand hotel.

The trio are also charged with the attempted murder of Hells Angel Larry Amero, Independent Soldier James Riach and two women, Leah Hadden-Watts and Lyndsey Black.

On July 26, 2011, Odin sent an email to Moonbat discussing someone named L, which Johnston said could either refer to Amero or Riach.

“Ok kool bro I want him so bad right now,” said Odin.

“Me too bro,” said Moonbat. “I wanna make a move (and) go on vacation. We deserve a nice vacation.”

On Aug. 5, Odin emailed Moonbat telling him “L’s getting it within the next week.”

On Aug. 13, just before 11 p.m., the night before the daytime shooting, Odin emailed Moonbat, telling him he was “off to k-town,” because #1, L and loser were there, allegedly referring to Bacon, Riach and Amero.

On Aug. 14, at 11:19 a.m., Moonbat asked Odin what he was doing, and Odin replied a minute later saying he was in Kelowna and he would “buzz” Moonbat later.

The shooting took place that afternoon, around 2:40 p.m.

At 4:13 p.m. that day, Moonbat again asked Odin what he was doing, and at 4:34 p.m., Odin wrote “coming back from k-town bro.”

Moonbat replied, saying, “very nice!!! Hehehehehehehe.”

A minute later, Odin emailed Moonbat asking what was on the news.

Moonbat told Odin he heard on the radio that four people had been shot and that Amero was alive for sure and Bacon was dead. He then described an account seen on the Vancouver Sun website, where a witness said a group of black-clothed men wearing masks started shooting at a white vehicle and that the police were searching for two vehicles that were seen leaving the scene around 2:30 p.m.

“Hahaha very nice bro,” said Odin.

Shortly after midnight on Aug. 15, Odin sent a message to Moonbat about travel plans.

“Hahaha ya bro theres gonna be crazy heat and I’m gonna chill at (home) till I get to dot (Toronto) on Fri.”

Moonbat then told him to come to Montreal, where he was going to be for a few days.

The messages come from a BlackBerry seized from Eghtesad following his arrest on a different investigation in August 2011.

The trial before a judge continues.
