Police on lookout for pair wanted in home invasion
Police are searching for two suspects following a serious assault and shooting Saturday in West Kelowna.
RCMP responded to a 911 call from a residence in the 3000 block of Ensign Way in West Kelowna shortly after 3 a.m.
Two male suspects, reportedly armed with firearms, had allegedly forced their way inside a home, said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.
“Once inside, one of the male suspects physically struck and injured a female resident who was subsequently transported to hospital for medical assessment and treatment of injuries,” he said. “Shots were also fired inside the home prior to both suspects fleeing the scene in a vehicle later located and seized by police.”
Investigators believe the incident was targeted and not a random attack.
Police have identified one of the alleged suspects as John Michael Aronson of no fixed address in Kelowna, wanted on multiple outstanding unrelated warrants for his arrest.
Aronson has now been charged with offences related to the assault and has had additional warrants issued for his arrest.
The RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Aronson. However, anyone who spots him is cautioned not to approach him, but to call police immediately, as he has a history of violence and is considered dangerous, said O’Donaghey.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the West Kelowna RCMP general investigations section at 250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 to remain anonymous.
