Ben Klicks on high note with B.C. award

-

Ben Klick is on the fast track to fame. The local interactive, fun-loving, guitar picking storyteller, Ben Klick, took home the 2017 Country Club Act of the Year Award at the 41st Annual British Columbia Country Music Association (BCCMA) Awards on Sunday.

As the What’s Going On 2017 came to an end with shows including the Merritt Rockin’ River Music Festival, Sunfest Country Music Festival, and Calgary Stampede, as well as headlining and cobilling local concerts such as Live in Lake Country, and Parks Alive!, Klick played over 25 festivals and events through the summer.

While on the road, Klick wrote 20 songs with co-writers across Canada which were sent down to producers, Clay Krasner and RyLee Madison, of 7-17 MUSIC in Nashville, TN.

Klick is heading down to Music City in December to work on a new six-song EP with a completion date in the early summer 2018.

“I’ve taken a little bit of a different approach to this record”, explains Klick, “by not only writing with some of my favourite co-writers, but by working with some Top 40 pop writers, as they have a natural talent when it comes to writing hooks.”

The first release of 2017, What’s Going On, co-written by Klick, David Borys, and Dave Faber made it to country music airwaves across Canada, and onto Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

This writing trio was nominated for the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year Award.

The latest release, That’s Who I Wanna Be, co-written by Klick, RyLee Madison, and Adam Wheeler, has been one of the Most Downloaded Songs at Country Radio in it’s first week of release, and is available for download on all digital download and streaming services including iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, and Google Play.

When Ben is not writing and performing, his spare time is used learning about the industry, and taking college courses to help guide him along his path. Ben's love for music and guitars has driven him to learn about producing and recording, as well as building the six string instruments by constructing three guitars and a ukulele in recent years.

“Playing guitar has always been my passion from a young age,” Klick said in an article on the Westbank Opry website.

“It allows me to express myself. When I build guitars, I get to put my own creativity into the construction of them, which contributes to my sound and how I play”

Next in line for this singer-songwriter and multiinstrumentalist is a show at the Creekside Theatre where Klick will be opening up for BCCMA Award winning band, The Chris Buck Band.

Tickets are available though the Creekside Theatre website creeksidetheatre.com.
