Peachland bus may go all way to Walmart within 2 years

- By Daily Courier Staff

Peachland residents could get direct bus service to the Walmart in West Kelowna.

Four daily trips of the No. 22 bus from Peachland would be extended from the downtown Westbank transit exchange to the big-box store on Butt Road under service changes eyed by BC Transit.

The additional service would cost Peachland taxpayers $11,000 a year, according to a staff report to be considered today by town council.

However, some of the necessary funds might be achieved by terminating service on that portion of the No. 22 that travels along Princeton Avenue. That part of the line has low ridership, BC Transit says.

The changes would not take place until 2019 at the earliest. Also being considered is a possible transit link between Peachland and the South Okanagan communities of Summerland and Penticton, although there is no timeline for implementation of that service.
