The sacrifice of veterans
Dear Editor: I found it very disheartening to see the results of a recent poll on Remembrance Day observance. Of those in the Okanagan that took the poll, more than 13 per cent did not recognize this somber occasion by even wearing a poppy. This is a sad statement on our society.
I suspect many do not realize that without the sacrifices of those brave men and women, the world as we know it would likely be very different. If Nazi Germany had succeeded, many that have come here from Britain and much of Europe would not exist. Gord Marshall Kelowna
