The selection is smaller but the quality is higher than ever at a popular month-long art sale now underway in Lake Country.

About 300 of the original 450 pieces are still available at the Under 100 Exhibition, where most of the artwork sells for less than $100.

Last year, more than 900 pieces were included at the outset of the exhibition, which is the Lake Country Art Gallery’s most important annual fundraiser.

“We’re going for quality over quantity this year,” art gallery manager Petrina McNeill said Thursday.

Sixty-five artists, from across the Okanagan but as far away as Montreal, have work for sale at the show. There are oil paintings, acrylics, photographs, glass pieces, mixed media and tempera, which is paint mixed with egg yolk and water.

“The work covers so many different subjects, from landscapes to abstract, animals to paintings that will appeal to children,” McNeill said. “Everyone finds something they like before they leave the gallery, and it’s also a great

way to pick up a unique Christmas present or two.”

The Under 100 Exhibition started at the gallery, 10356 Bottom Wood Lake Rd., in late November and continues until Dec. 21.

More than $11,000 worth of artwork has already been sold, with the artists retaining 70 per cent and the gallery getting 30 per cent to help fund operations.
