Luxury home part of Millionaire Lottery

A luxury home in a gated West Kelowna lakeshore community is part of a prize package for the Millionaire Lottery, which raises money for the VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation.

A 3,811 square foot home in Paradise Estates is part of a package that includes a $75,000 furniture package and a Land Rover Discovery Diesel. The total prize show home package is valued at over $3 million.

Paradise Estates is located on over 400 feet of sandy beach on Okanagan Lake and the home includes an extra wide boat slip.

Common amenities include a 50-foot swimming pool, 26-foot long water slide, waterfall features, putting and chipping area and a sunken fire pit.

“We designed it as multi-generational,” said Ken Nichols, president of Gasland Properties and Paradise Estates developer, while delivering a tour of the home.

“As much as the grandparents would love it, the grandkids will love it.”

The three-bedroom, two-storey home offers in-floor heating, air conditioning, an elevator and a temperature controlled wine room.

The main floor is open concept with a great room that boasts a six-foot-long gas fireplace.

The great room flows into the kitchen, which is ready for casual or formal entertaining with a 48-inch Sub-Zero fridge, a 36-inch six burner gas stove, two dishwashers and two ovens.

Bring the outdoors inside by opening the ninefoot tall stacking door system to the spacious patio with a gas fire table and a covered outdoor dining area complete with a builtin barbecue.

The second floor offers a flex room that can be used as a media room, two guest bedrooms and the master bedroom retreat with a walk-through closet, a lounge with a wet bar and a deck.

Take the home’s elevator or the floating stairs to the roof-top garden which features a lake view, hot tub, patio misting system and built-in patio heaters.

Luxury finishing includes Venetian plaster wall treatments, Neolith shower surrounds which eliminate grout lines and a solid maple live edge bar top on the kitchen island.

The Millionaire Lottery has raised over $50 million for VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation, which includes Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital and the G.F. Strong Rehab Centre that serve the entire province.

Nearly half the patients at VGH come from outside Metro Vancouver for advanced treatments only available there, including severe stroke, burn care, complex cancer operations and liver and lung transplants.

“They see the most complex cases for the entire province,” said Angela Chapman, senior vice president of philanthropy VGH and UBC Hospital Foundation.

The funds go primarily to buying small capital equipment, items under $100,000, said Chapman.

That includes common items such as ventilators for the ICU, specialized equipment for the burn unit, day to day items such as ceiling lifts to lift patients out of bed and into a wheelchair and cutting-edge items such as an exoskeleton that goes on a person who can’t move their limbs so they can walk.

The nice thing about the lottery, said Chapman, is that people who buy tickets have a chance to win the beautiful home package and tax-free cash, but at the same time, win or lose, they have done something great for the entire province by making this equipment available and supporting the hospitals.

Winners have the option of accepting $2.7 million in tax-free cash instead of taking the prize home. Ticket sales for the Millionaire Lottery run until Jan. 12, 2018. There are over 3000 prizes worth over $4.3 million, including luxury homes, vacations, and cars. Only 117,000 tickets are sold to win a grand prize.

Millionaire Lottery tickets cost $100 each, two for $200, three for $250 and eight for $500.

Tickets are available online at millionairelottery.com, by phone at 1-888-445-5825 or at any London Drugs.
