Randy Bachman of Guess Who and BTO fame will headline next year’s Rock the Lake festival in Kelowna.

Prospera Place management on Thursday announced the lineup for the third annual classic rock festival that will be held outdoors on the weekend of Aug. 10-12, 2018.

Bachman is a founding member of The Guess Who dating back to 1962, when they were known as Chad Allen and the Expressions. The band had its first No. 1 hit in Canada in 1965 with a remake of Johnny Kidd’s Shakin’ All Over.

The band twice hit No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard charts, with American Woman and No Sugar Tonight, and it had top-10 entries in These Eyes, No Time and Share the Land. All, except the latter, were written or co-written by Bachman.

After leaving The Guess Who in 1974, he formed Bachman Turner Overdrive, which scored its own No. 1 hit with You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet as well as the classic rock anthem Takin’ Care of Business.

Now a regular host on CBC Radio, Bachman later reunited with The Guess Who as well as its lead singer, Burton Cummings, for the Bachman Cummings tour and album. Bachman also toured once with Ringo Starr and his AllStar Band.

Other acts on this year’s lineup include: Little River Band (Lonesome Loser, Lady); Men Without Hats (The Safety Dance, Pop Goes the World, Where Do the Boys Go?); The Sweet (Ballroom Blitz, Fox on the Run, Love is Like Oxygen); Northern Pikes (She Ain’t Pretty); Doug and the Slugs (Too Bad, Who Knows How to Make Love Stay); Glass Tiger (Someday, Don’t Forget Me When I’m Gone); The Stampeders (Sweet City Woman, Devil You); Barney Bentall & the Legendary Hearts (Something to Live For); Ian Thomas (Painted Ladies); and Nazareth (Hair of the Dog, Loves Hurts).

Full weekend packages, VIP tickets and pre-paid parking passes go on sale at 10 a.m. today through Select Your Tickets. The full event pass starts at $153, plus tax and service charges, while VIP tickets will cost $430, plus taxes and service charges.
