-

The man accused of stabbing another man following a crash in Rutland in May has been found guilty.

On May 21, Kelowna RCMP received a report of a collision involving a Dodge Ram pickup truck and a cyclist in the 400 block of Gramiak Road at 3:38 p.m.

The cyclist had ridden out of a foot path and onto Gramiak Road, when he collided with the rear passenger side panel of the truck, Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said at the time.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly stopped to offer assistance to the cyclist, who responded with profanity and walked away.

He then returned and allegedly threatened the driver’s son, who was holding an item believed to have been left at the scene by the cyclist.

“A physical altercation between the two men occurred, where it is alleged that the cyclist stabbed the driver in the abdomen with a knife,” said O’Donaghey.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Alexander Conn Lewis, born in 1997, was charged with assault causing bodily harm, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.

This week, he was found guilty of assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon, and was acquitted of uttering threats.

He is scheduled to appear in court in February for a presentence report.
