Embattled trustee doing his job

-

Dear editor: Re: School trustee must step down (Courier editorial, Jan. 23).

Since James Miller voiced his misguided opinion, here is mine.

Trustee Barry Neufeld was elected to look out for the children in his school district. In all the articles that I have read about this controversy, I fail to see anywhere where he is not doing exactly that.

He is concerned about the theory that gender is fluid and that there are more than two genders. Also that a person can choose their gender. Where in the world, besides in our social engineering school system, do these ideas come from?

And now this nonsense is going to be taught in our tax-funded schools to impressionable children from kindergarten on up. Yes, that is child abuse. All we are doing as a society is caving in to the PC gay/lesbian agenda.

I have three grandsons, 11 years old and younger, who play with dolls, super heroes, WWE figurines and Star Wars figurines. With this kind of twisted thinking they would all be labelled girls.

Does no one realize that gender identity is a question mark until the middle teens, at the earliest? What will it profit us to confuse these children even more than the difficulty of dealing with peer pressure?

I think it is time that we stopped harassing this school trustee who cares deeply about the children that he was elected to protect. John Bootsma
