Nobody wants this byelection

-

Dear editor: A byelection is behing held in Kelowna West, which includes the area of West Kelowna. This is only the fourth election in five years. There was the general election in 2013 which Ben Stewart won, but his leader, Christy Clark, lost in her riding.

Being a good soldier, Stewart resigned and we had a summer byelection, which had a low turnout as people, including myself, were away. Stewart was rewarded with a job in Asia, though I believe his bio does not indicate he speaks any Asian language. Then we had the general election in 2017 and Clark promised to stay on as our MLA. That only lasted a little while and so we now have another byelection.

I asked Elections BC what was the cost of the 2013 by election and the answer was $482,000. Yes almost half-a-million dollars. So this one should be close to $500,000. Maybe we should call Stewart the milliondollar taxpayer man.

So now we have to decide who to vote for. I remember last year a Liberal campaigner asking me “do you want to vote for someone who will sit in the opposition for the next four years or do you want to vote for someone who will be running the government and have the ear of the ministers?”

So be sure to take your sweetheart out to vote on Feb. 14, such a romantic way to spend part of your day.
