A loss prevention officer from a grocery store in the 300 block of Highway 33 West in Kelowna snapped these pictures of a male suspected of stealing some groceries. The officer confronted the male outside after watching him conceal the items and leave the store. The male, described as being a 5’10” tall Caucasian in his mid-20s with short brown hair, ran away with the Loss Prevention Officer on his tail. At one point the male stopped and pushed the officer so he could get away. The officer was unharmed. THEFT OVER $5000 Feb 7 RCMP file: 2018-6840 fabricatin­g shop. On Jan. 28-29, a Millermati­c 212 Auto-Set MIG welder valued at $2,000 was taken from a covered storage area. On Friday, Feb. 2, a cutting torch set and tanks on a cart, valued at $1500, were taken from the south end of the business’s property. THEFT FROM VEHICLE

Feb. 2 RCMP file: 2018-5818 Between 6 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, a suspect broke the rear window of a grey 2007 Acura MDX SUV parked in the student parking lot at Mount Boucherie Secondary School on the 2700 block of Cameron Road in West Kelowna. The thief grabbed a purse out of the vehicle that contained a wallet with debit cards, credit cards and an assortment of gift cards.

LIQUOR STORE SHOPLIFTER

Feb. 7 RCMP file: 2018-6852 The manager of a liquor store located on the 10000 block of Highway 97 in Lake Country called RCMP at 3:07 p.m. on Feb. 7 to report a shoplifter who had stolen two 1.75-litre bottles of Smirnoff vodka valued at $54 each.

When video surveillan­ce was reviewed they could see the Caucasian male with a dark beard, wearing a black tuque, red hoodie with a white circle on it and a black bandana with white skulls enter the store and go directly to the vodka section.

He grabbed the two bottles of vodka and ran out of the store, fleeing south on Highway 97.

THEFT OF PROPANE TANKS

Feb. 8 RCMP file: 2018-6946 A resident living across from a store located on Bottom Wood Lake Road in Lake Country called 911 at 1:39 a.m. on Feb. 8 to report a theft in progress while watching a suspect load propane tanks into a vehicle.

According to the witness, police just missed the thief as he took off in a light-coloured 2012 Ford Escape, and searches for the vehicle in the area were unsuccessf­ul. The thief had broken into a locked cage in the corner of the parking lot and stolen nine propane tanks worth $50 each.
