West Coast Soul at Creekside Theatre Thursday

-

You can get a taste of what is coined West Coast soul at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Creekside Theatre in Lake Country.

Victoria-based Carmanah promises to consistently deliver a dynamic and wellbalanced performance that features Laura Mina’s soulful lead vocals supported by strong male harmonies, multiple lead instruments and a driving rhythm section. The band’s poignant songs explore love, nature and the issues of the world.

Carmanah was on the (Vancouver) Daily Hive’s list of musicians to watch for in 2017 and has shared the stage with many acts, including Ziggy Marley, Spirit of the West, Shakey Graves, Clinton Fearon, Said the Whale and Current Swell.

The band consistently draws a large enthusiastic crowd in Victoria and has sold out venues such as Sugar Nightclub with its capacity of 600.

Bandmates are also green when on the road, using used vegetable oil obtained from restaurants along the way to power their transportation.

Carmanah is now on a tour that includes Penticton’s Dream Cafe on Friday.

The first commercial album is Speak in Rythms and available on the website: carmanahband.ca.

Tickets to the Creekside Theatre show are $20 including fees, and available through Kelownatickets.ca, at 250-862-2867 or at the box office in Orchard Park mall.
